On 16 December 2022, the academic committee meeting of the 'One Belt, One Road' International Joint Energy and Environmental Catalysis Research Centre of the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) was held in our university. The meeting of the Academic Committee was chaired by Director Li Guode of the Research Office, and the report on the construction work of the Centre and the expert seminar for members were chaired by Academician Xu Chunming.

On behalf of the university, President Yang Song firstly extended a warm welcome to the 23 members and experts, including Academician Xu Chunming and Academician Li Jinghong, and expressed his heartfelt thanks to the experts for their support and guidance during the construction and development of the university over the years. In his speech, President Yang briefly introduced the basic situation of Shenyang Normal University and the construction of the China Association for Science and Technology 'One Belt, One Road' International Joint Energy and Environmental Catalysis Research Centre. President Yang pointed out that the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, led by Professor Zhao Zhen, a Yangtze River Scholar, is a strategic choice for the university to adapt to local economic and social development and to build the first choice for the development of engineering disciplines, which is the leading school of the university. Under the leadership of Professor Zhao Zhen, the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering has taken the initiative to serve the national One Belt and One Road initiative, giving full play to its advantages and characteristics in disciplines, talents, platforms and scientific research in the field of energy and environmental catalysis, and fully promoting the One Belt and One Road international joint The Centre for Energy and Environmental Catalysis will contribute to the construction of the One Belt, One Road initiative. President Yang fully affirmed the achievements of the Centre and expressed his expectations for the future development of the Centre.

Professor Zhao Zhen, Director of the Centre, reported to the Academic Committee on behalf of the Centre team on the construction of the Centre in the past three years, highlighting the overall construction and development of the Centre in terms of research directions, academic team building, platform building, scientific research progress, domestic and international cooperation and exchange, and major landmark achievements, etc. He proposed the future development plan of the Centre, which is mainly oriented towards the major strategic needs of the country, actively responding to the national goal of carbon peaking and carbon neutral, and focusing on the research and development of catalytic technologies for efficient, energy-saving, environmental protection and low-carbon utilization of energy and environment.

Professor Wei Yuechang from China University of Petroleum (Beijing), Senior Engineer Xia Wenzheng from Kunming Guiyuan Catalyst Co Ltd and Professor Li Bo, Professor Yu Xuehua, Professor Tang Duihai, Professor Yang Xiaobo and Associate Professor Xie Ze-an from Shenyang Normal University made presentations on behalf of the Centre's research team, reporting in detail on the Centre's innovative research work and important research results in new materials for energy and environment catalysis, catalysis for efficient conversion and low carbon use of oil and gas resources, catalysis for haze-causing air pollutant purification and catalysis for efficient use of new energy.

At the Academic Committee Workshop, after listening carefully to the report on the construction work of the Centre by Professor Zhao Zhen, the Director of the Centre, and the scientific progress reports of the Centre's team members, the experts fully affirmed and highly appreciated the construction situation and achievements of the Centre in the past three years. We all agreed that the Centre has done a lot of remarkable work in building scientific and technological infrastructure and has produced a number of landmark achievements in the field of energy and environmental catalysis. At the same time, the members discussed the future construction and development of the Centre, and expressed their views on the research direction and positioning of the Centre, its own characteristics and operational management, and put forward many constructive and forward-looking opinions and suggestions for the future construction planning of the Centre.

Li Guode, Director of the Research Office of the University, concluded the meeting with a speech. He pointed out that the achievements of the Centre were the result of the joint efforts of the team led by Professor Zhao Zhen, and also the result of the long-term care, guidance and support of Shenyang Normal University and Professor Zhao Zhen's team by all the experts. He thanked all the experts for gathering in the clouds, advising and advising, and building consensus, which pointed the way for the future development of the Centre!
